Prepare for Settlement

You’ve just purchased the property of your dreams! You are now on the home stretch – you just have to tick off a few more items before you can kick back in your new living room.

Once the contracts have been signed by both parties, you will need to send a copy to your conveyancer and broker. You will need to liaise with these professionals regarding the process of transferring the ownership of the property into your name. Any conditions on the contract will need to be satisfied, usually within a certain timeframe. This may be a building inspection or bank valuation of the property.

You will need to arrange a final inspection with the agent prior to your settlement date (usually one week prior) to ensure everything is ready for you to move in. Now all that’s left is to wait for settlement day, when you will be able to pick up your keys and move into your new home.
